Imagination Library

July 25, 2019

In June the Pickaway County Library and PCCF collaborated to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program to Pickaway County. This project allows children between the ages of birth to five years old to be enrolled to receive the gift of one book per month. While free for the families, the cost of this program is $25 per child per year; therefore, for $125 a child would receive one book per month from birth until the attainment of age five. The books are hardback books and are mailed directly to their home.

The initial goal of this program is to allow 200 children to receive books that may not have had the opportunity to receive them. This allows each child an opportunity to begin their own library and the opportunity to learn to read at an earlier age. Research shows that children that have access to books at an early age have greater literacy skills when entering kindergarten than those who do not have access to books. Donations to the Imagination Library Fund may be made on-line at under the “Community Funds” section of this website or by mailing a donation to PCCF.
