Pickaway Competitiveness Network Farm to Plate Dinner

The Pickaway Competitiveness Network (PCN) Agriculture Fund hosted the annual Farm to Plate event on August 22, 2018 that brought over 400 people together on a beautiful August evening at the Richard’s Farm. Attendees were treated with comfortable weather and a backdrop of agriculture at work as silage was being chopped in a nearby field. This event is the annual fundraiser for the PCN Agriculture Fund. The speaker for the 2018 event was Pickaway Progress Partnership (P3) Executive Director, Ryan  Scribner. Dinner was served by the FFA Chapters from Teays Valley, Logan Elm and Westfall and the FFA Chapter Presidents, Katie Easter (Logan Elm), Megan Gibboney (Westfall) and Morgan McFarland (Teays Valley) shared previous successes and goals of their chapters for this year with those in attendance. The event is a crowd favorite as the students, dressed in the FFA jackets, deliver their meals. The FFA Chapters were challenged by the PCN Ag Committee to provide tip jars to give to a charity/organization of their choice. This year all three FFA’s chose to donate their tips, totaling $1,150, to the Agriculture and Event Center Fund. The PCN Agriculture Fund will be making a donation to each of the FFA’s for their assistance with this dinner.

PCN Agriculture is a fund that focuses on the betterment of agriculture opportunities in the county. This fund is highly supported each year through Farm to Plate Sponsorship and for 2018 had over 40 sponsors from both inside Pickaway County as well as some sponsors from Franklin, Madison, Ross and Fayette Counties.

There were two raffles at this year’s event which included Ohio State Tickets to the OSU versus Indiana Hoosier football game and an OSU lap quilt were won by Beth Smith. The other raffle was a YETI Surprise Chest which included donations from local vendors and a free entry to the PCCF Clays for Community event and this prize was won by Judy Shearer.

PCN Agriculture would like to than all the sponsors, donors, FFA Chapters, and everyone that attended the event for making this a fabulous night.
